CLIMATE

French Polynesia is south of the equator, on the contrary school holidays still land in line with those of the northern hemisphere. The peak season is during July and August, during this period it is extremely difficult to book flights and accommodation. Christmas to early January, late February and early March, the Easter period, early May and early October are also quite busy times. The peak July to August season overlaps with the Heiva festival, held throughout July, when the area comes to life.

French Polynesia has average South Pacific temperatures between 20°C (68°F) and 30°C (86°F) at any time of the day, any day of the year. Humidity is more often than not high, but the constant temperature and fresh breezed from the sea denote that conditions are never too stifling. The dry winter period from May to October this is the greatest time to go; the weather is cooler and there is a lesser amount of rainfall during this time. Temperatures increase during the summer rainy season from November to April when it is humid, cloudy and incredibly wet.
